Conception, Development & Engagement
The Sustainability Education Trail was initiated and funded by Recovery in 2013 to celebrate and stimulate community engagement and conversations regarding waste and sustainability. And to create an environment that embodies love of community and love of place.

From 2015 onward Recovery as a triple bottom line company achieved sponsorship from other triple bottom line companies including Norske Skog, Fast Forward Digital Press, 4 Business & Community,  Jackman’s Garage Moonah & Veolia – to demonstrate that local business have an important active role to play in sustainability.

The interpretation signage & colouring in book has been  kindly part sponsored by the then Southern Waste Strategy Authority – comprising Southern Midlands, Brighton, Derwent Valley, Huon Valley, Tasman, Sorell, Glenorchy, Kingborough, Glamorgan Spring Bay, Clarence and Central Highlands Councils.

Additional signage in the trail is sponsored by The Hon Cassy O'Connor MP, the Hon Elise Archer MP, The Hon Scott Bacon MP & The Hon Matthew Groom MP.

Sustainability Education Trail
Recovery has embedded a found object art trail into its retail shop environment, featuring  35 pieces of commissioned art pieces designed to inspire and engaged the viewer in waste reduction, and minimisation theory and practice. Its action focussed and reinforces positive behaviour change which is a hall mark of the Tasmanian community.

The tab notes for educators provides a detailed outline of the learning themes and outcomes of the sustainability education tour, a suggested sustainability vocabulary for students to learn in class before coming to the Recovery Circular Hub, and key information re opening hrs and what to bring.

Most excitingly, the trail also features a Street Directory to the Circular Economy, erected in 2019. Circular Economics is the biggest idea of the 21st Century, and is becoming increasingly important for both civil society, businesses and government to comprehend and implement. For Tasmanian students as feature leaders, designers, policy makers and business owners, circular economics is an extraordinary pathway to delivering an authentic sustainable future; with endless gainful career opportunities.
